Zulu announces nine new hires

Toronto agency adds to its creative and account services teams

Zulu Alpha Kilo continues to bolster its creative and account services teams with nine new hires.

Six of the nine positions are newly-created roles at the Toronto-based shop. According to a statement from the agency, the new positions are a result of “organic growth” and “new client projects with Hershey Canada and Alterna Savings.”

Zulu bulked up its account services department with the addition of Roy Gruia as group account director. Gruia most recently led the McDonald’s account at Cossette, and spent seven years at FCB where he worked with TD, Coors Light and Fairmont.

Account supervisors Maya Adler from Publicis and Mike Johnson from DDB, have also joined, along with account executives Maegan Thomas from Entrinsic and Winnie Hsiao from Juniper Park.

On the creative side, Zulu has added copywriter Joel Felker from TrojanOne, and art directors Curtis Denomme from Agency59, and Fiorella Martinez, a recent OCAD graduate. Jolette Samuel, who most recently worked at MediaBrands, has also come on board in the newly created role of broadcast manager.

“We’re thrilled to have this group of new talent join at such an exciting time for Zulu. We went searching for smart, creative and collaborative people and we certainly found that in this new group of Zuligans,” said Zulu president Mike Sutton, in a release.

This round of hires follows the recent addition of Allen Oke as executive creative director and art director Guilherme Bermejo and copywriter Nicholas Doerr.
