Ace Bakery is celebrating 20 years in business with the Ace Bakery Artisan Incubator, a two-day event celebrating artisan food.

We are Tonic, Ace’s agency of record, came up with the concept, which Erin McCarrell, account director at the agency, said is a chance to highlight the importance of local and sustainable food producers across the country.

A group of 20 artisans selected by Ace, We Are Tonic and a number of subject matter experts will participate in panel discussions and public workshops on topics ranging from cheese-, chocolate- and sausage-making, distilling and fermentation at some of Toronto’s top culinary facilities June 21-22.

“Ace is a very creative client, and they wanted to keep it really grassroots,” said McCarrell. “They’ve always been striving to maintain artisan ideals. This event will appeal to anyone who loves food.”

Some panel discussions will include topics such as branding, PR and sustainability.

A media buy promoting the event includes an 8-page insert due to appear in The Globe & Mail next week, 15-second TV spots on the Food Network, and digital ads on the Food Network’s site and popular food blogs.

We Are Tonic is also promoting the incubator on social media, said McCarrell. BMO and the Food Network are sponsoring the event.
