DiGiorno Pizza’s pizza musical
The community manager behind DiGiorno Pizza had a little fun during the broadcast of the live version of The Sound of Music on NBC. The brand re-imagined the classic musical as a pizza-themed musical with tweets like, “Can’t believe pizza isn’t one of her favorite things smh” and “DOUGH a crust an unbaked crust RAY, a guy that likes pizza ME a pizza liked by a guy named ray FAH no idea what fah is SO so LA a city T tee.”

Apple surpasses PC in brand preference
For the first time ever, brand preference for Apple desktops has surpassed PC computers, according to a new survey by Parks Associates. The survey also showed consumers prefer Apple products in several other categories, including tablets and streaming media devices. However, Parks Associates’ John Barrett points out that while consumers may prefer Apple, they often change their minds when it comes time to make a purchase.

Retailers embracing social, backing away from mobile
A new survey shows that just 38% of retail CMOs have included mobile in their holiday marketing mix, down from 50% last year. By comparison, 88% said social media is part of their holiday marketing plan and will account for an average 14% of their overall budget, up from 10% last year.

Drake to design Nike Air Jordans
Drake is filling Kanye’s shoes as the new designer for Nike’s Air Jordan line. The Toronto-born rapper announced the partnership during a concert in Portland last week, only days after Kanye announced he was leaving Nike for rival sportswear company Adidas. Kanye reportedly left Nike after the company refused to give him royalties or creative control over his Air Yeezy product line. Drake is no stranger to the sports or design worlds, having signed a deal to be the face of the Toronto Raptors, which includes a clothing line for the team.
