Republicans prefer Canadian liquor brands
Republican voters in the U.S. are big fans of two Canadian liquor brands, Labatt Blue and Canadian Club whisky, according to a new report. Fans of Labatt Blue are also more likely to be voters in general, compared to the fans of other brands.

Mall embraces showrooming rather than battle it
Accepting that showrooming is here to stay, Mall of America in Minnesota is changing its model to accept the practice rather than try to fight it. The mall, which has more than 400 stores and a ferris wheel, predicts the move will help it attract more customers to its stores (which now act more like showrooms to showcase retailers’ products as storefronts themselves have gotten smaller and more items are available online).

The CW tries to lure ABC viewers to switch channels
The CW took a page from ABC’s book, telling viewers to “switch to ‘A’nother channel,” a nod to the “A” character from its popular tween hit Pretty Little Liars. The network took out ads during the broadcast of Pretty Little Liars to entice viewers to switch to one of its own teen-focused shows, The Originals, which airs in the competing timeslot.

Nordstrom to open Toronto location
Nordstrom is opening a flagship location in the heart of downtown Toronto. The Seattle-based retailer is replacing Sears in Toronto’s Eaton Centre. Nordstrom starts construction on the three-level, 213,000 square-foot space in March with a grand opening slated for March 2016. Nordstrom will be at the opposite end of the mall from Hudson’s Bay, which also caters to high-end clientele with in-store boutiques such as Coach, Burberry and The Room. The retailer’s Eaton Centre location is one of six slated to open in Canada within the next three years.
