Astral’s Family Channel is letting kids across Canada submerge themselves into their favourite shows with the Bright Lights, Big Summer Tour.

The Tour, which kicked off with a two-day launch this past weekend at Wasaga Beach, Ont., features a multi-media activity booth. There, children can have their pictures taken in front of a green screen and have their faces superimposed on the stars of their favourite Family Channel series, from Wingin’ It to The Suite Life on Deck.

“Knowing our audience and how they relate to the shows, it’s important that we bring our experience to life and make them part of the action,” said Family Channel brand manager Ashley Elborne.

The tour, developed in partnership with TrojanOne, also includes a viewing wall inside the booth, where never-before-seen interviews, music videos and programming will be screened for families.

“Leveraging some of the more recognizable characters to draw kids to the booth, families will have the opportunity to become engaged and get to know some of our newer characters and programming in a fun and individual way,” said Paul Cormack, director of consumer marketing for Family Channel, in a release.

According to Elborne, the Bright Lights Big Summer Tour will be promoted through Family Channel. “We already have a lot of the eyeballs we want, so it’s a great platform,” she said.

The tour will travel to 15 festivals and events across Ontario, Alberta and B.C.–many of which are sponsored by Family Channel–and will run until Sept. 6. As the Tour moves forward, Elborne said Astral will be alerting local media to build awareness.
