Think your car is bad enough to get “cliffed”?

Now you can try and convince everyone else through a contest from AutoTrader.ca.

Canadians have until April 10 to submit a photo or video of their clunker along with a personal appeal to the contest site CliffYourRide.ca (or UltimeDerape.ca in French). The winner will have an opportunity to plunge their ride off a cliff, and receive $30,000 towards a new vehicle purchased on AutoTrader.ca.

A panel of AutoTrader execs will select the final winner from the 20 most popular videos, as voted by the public. To solicit votes, entrants can share their submission with friends and family via Twitter, Facebook, e-mail and YouTube. Toronto-based John St. developed the contest.

AutoTrader is also collecting submissions at various auto shows throughout the country, and has received nearly 400 submissions so far.

Sandra Moretti, account supervisor at John St., said the idea behind the contest is to enforce the selection of new vehicles available on the site, which is best known for its used cars.

The event will go down April 29, and though a drop site hasn’t been chosen yet, AutoTrader will arrange transportation for the winner and his/her vehicle.

AutoTrader is also supporting the contest through media and blogger outreach from National PR, street teams managed by Mosaic, as well as online ads. PHD handled the media buy.
