Toronto Port Authority offers floating films
To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the Toronto Port Authority (TPA) will place a two-sided, 28-foot movie screen on a barge moored in Toronto harbour. Visible from both the water and shore, the barge will show movies on three consecutive nights in August.
The project is the brainchild of Birthplace Inc.
“TPA wanted to create something that delivered value to people and that could engage them in an authentic way,” said Patrick Scissions, Birthplace’s founder.
As for what films will be shown, the TPA is accepting suggestions via e-mail and Facebook.
“The Toronto Port Authority has played a big part at the city’s waterfront and waterways for over 100 years,” said Geoffrey Wilson, TPA president and CEO, in a release. “We wanted to create an experience that would give something back to the community and allow us to create a closer connection with the people who enjoy it.”
