Boom retains Corby, wins Sofina

Three-and-a-half-year client relationship remains intact while experiential shop finds new business

Experiential marketing agency Boom Marketing has won the Corby Spirit and Wine account for a second time and has gained Sofina Foods as a new client.

The agency had previously worked with Corby for more than three-and-a-half years, but the experiential business was recently put up for review.

“Although we put the business up for review, Boom made it clear that they were best suited to manage our retail business,” said Ryan McCue, director of trade marketing at Corby Spirit and Wine, in a statement. “In a very competitive and highly regulated industry, the execution, training and account management that Boom delivers is critical to the growth of our portfolio of brands.”

Boom has executed thousands of “elevated retail tastings” across the country for Corby, said Daniel Rooney, president of Boom Marketing. The aims are to give consumers an opportunity to sample products they may have never tried, new innovative brands they’ve never heard of or to simply spotlight new cocktail recipes, Rooney says.

During the pitch process with Sofina Foods, meanwhile, Boom presented several strategic and creative concepts that resonated with the company’s brands, Rooney said.

Boom conducted executions for Sofina Foods brands Mastro and San Daniele at the recent 2016 Taste of Little Italy festival in Toronto. The Mastro San Daniele Piazza in the city’s Little Italy neighbourhood was filled with samples of premium salami, prosciutto and mortadella and Lavazza coffee was on hand during the three-day event.

“Boom was able to take our vision and make it a reality,” said Yvonne Chan-Caguiat, brand manager, Italian deli at Sofina Foods. “The work they did on behalf of brands exceeded any and all expectations we had.”

Carlaw Communications does public relations work for Boom Marketing on a project basis.
