Boston Pizza is looking to leverage a partnership with mixed martial arts league Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) with a new product and a contest to get fight fans in its restaurants.

The Octagon Pizza, a special offering from Boston Pizza (the official sports bar of UFC Canada) will be available July 21 to coincide with the UFC’s next big pay-per-view event, Faber vs. Barao, which will take place in Calgary. The unique pizza will be available for dine-in at 22 of the chain’s restaurants in the Greater Calgary Area.

Boston Pizza is also sponsoring a contest called “Tough Enough” on UFC Canada’s Facebook page. Launched Wednesday, the national contest allows fans the chance to win a weekend in Toronto for an upcoming UFC event in September. The contest asks fans to pick from a selection of pre-written, not-so-complimentary Facebook status updates (i.e. “There’s nothing wrong with picking out baby names on a first date, right?”) to use on their profile.

Each day a fan updates their Facebook status with one of the phrases, it will count as a single contest entry.

Boston Pizza will takeover UFC’s Canadian website and sponsor UFC Canada’s e-mail newsletter to drive awareness about the contest.

The grand prize is two prime seats at the Toronto fight, flight and accommodations, a backstage tour, UFC goods, spending cash and a Boston Pizza gift card.

In addition to the selected Calgary locations, the Octagon Pizza will be available during future UFC pay-per-view events in the city, as well as additional Boston Pizza locations across the country.
