The Calgary Exhibition & Stampede is moseying down to Vancouver to bring some Western hospitality to the 2010 Winter Olympics.
The Stampede Queen and Princesses, the Indian Princess, a champion bull rider, a professional chuck wagon driver and even Stampede mascot Harry the Horse will represent the Stampede at a variety of promotional events and to cheer on the world’s athletes over the next few days.
The Stampede royalty and cowboys will ride the special Alberta train to Whistler today as part of Alberta Day celebrations at the Games. The cowboys will also ride the train Feb. 18 to remind Olympic visitors of the Western excitement generated by North America’s biggest rodeo and outdoor exhibition.
To help others share in the cowboy spirit, the Stampede visitors will be handing out the traditional white cowboy hats today at the Canada Pavilion.
