Calgary’s Chinook Centre, one of the country’s largest shopping centres, has chosen local agency Trigger as its new agency of record.
The account was formerly held by Highwood Communications of Calgary, which closed its doors late last year.
Trigger will handle marketing communications, advertising creative, media planning and buying for the shopping centre. According to president Larry Bannerman, the agency’s first task will be to create signage and marketing around the shopping centre’s 180,000 square-foot expansion, which will increase its number of stores from 200 to more than 260 by 2010.
“With the current expansion and new store openings, plus the upcoming 50-year anniversary celebration, these are very exciting times for Chinook Centre,” he said.
Bannerman also announced that Scott Stewart, formerly group director of strategy with OMD Toronto, has joined the agency as director of communications planning.
“He brings us large media buying and planning experience from Toronto,” said Bannerman.
Stewart, who was also media director with Genesis Vizeum Canada, has over a decade of industry experience in both Canada and the U.S., and has worked with clients including H.J. Heinz of Canada, Suzuki Canada, the Toronto Star, Hilton Hotels and Mars Canada.
