With the Christmas holiday quickly approaching, Marketing’s mailbox is stuffed with seasonal salutations and merriment. Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing a few of our favourites.

Santa is an every-person’s brand. Kids benefit from Santa’s generosity (providing they’re on the “nice” list), and parents take great pride in preparing for his visit. But as the needs and wants of kids continue to evolve, the jolly old fat guy is worried his image isn’t resonating with today’s youth. He’s enlisted the help of Toronto’s Fuse Marketing Group to craft a hipper, timelier image.

The agency has come up with three possibilities, and is asking you to visit the Fuse Facebook page to vote for one of the following:

• Santa Gaga: “Sure it’ll take some wardrobe changes, paparazzi appearances and a new jingle or two–but with an army of elves and some holiday magic, there’s no way the fame won’t come back to Santa Gaga.”

• North Shore – St. Nicky: “When Jersey Shore meets Santa it creates a jolly situation that we know the kids will love. Over-tanned, super-pumped and club-ready – lovable St. Nicky lives life one eggnog away from a whole lot of holiday drama.”

• Kris “The Cookie Crumbler” Kringle: “The Ultimate Fighting Championship is the world’s fastest growing sport. Like it or hate it, Santa’s not afraid to get in there and mix it up with anyone. Problem is–no one has the jingle bells to face the undefeated champion of the holidays.”

For every vote, Fuse will make a donation to the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
