At a time when pop starlets make headlines for their benders instead of their brains, Dove is on a mission to connect strong female role models with Canadian girls during a live-streamed event later this month.

On June 26 at 7 p.m. EST, Canadians are being encouraged to visit Dove’s Facebook page and take part in the free event, which is called “Women Who Should be Famous.”

Dove suggests Canadian moms and mentors watch the hour-long event with a girl that’s important to them to, as Sharon MacLeod, vice-president of marketing for the Unilever brand, said in a release, “be inspired by the remarkable stories of real women role models.”

The event is meant to give the next generation of women access to stories from solid role models—even though they’re not the traditional type of “famous.” Actress and singer Mandy Moore—widely known for her own solid values and work ethic—will lead participants through the tales of four inspiring women from areas as wide-ranging as environmentalism to leadership.

According to Dove, 32% of Canadian girls say celebrities, such as Hollywood starlets, are their top role models after their mother. “At Dove, we believe that there is a need to shift the spotlight and identify other inspirational women who have a positive relationship with beauty to positively shape the self-esteem of Canadian girls,” said MacLeod.

This is the first time Dove has done a live-streamed event. Canadians with a Facebook account can now register through Dove’s Facebook page to take part.

Starting June 12, Dove’s Facebook page will also include videos of the real women role models sharing their motivating stories.

“Women Who Should be Famous” will be promoted through TV ads, traditional PR, online banner ads and Dove-owned social media platforms. It is also promoting the program through a YouTube video.
