The Doxa Documentary Film Festival, now in its tenth year, has begun promoting its May 6 – 15 Vancouver event with radio and out-of-home ads, as well as through social media.
With attendance expected to reach approximately 10,000 people, the festival has landed sponsors such as CBC, NFB, the Knowledge Network, Georgia Strait and Rogers, its presenting partner.
Vancouver-based Giant Ant Media put together 10 second video clips that are running as montages on screens at Canada Place and one of the city’s Future Shop locations.
Taxi Vancouver created three radio spots. Matt Bielby, associate director at Taxi, said the “>creative strategy is based on the insight that people want more choices for entertainment. The radio spots use a film listings phone-in service to show that lack of choice and expected story lines found in traditional theatre, but then goes on to suggest DOXA as a different kind of film experience.
“When it comes to film, far too often moviegoers are stuck with what Hollywood offers them,” said Bielby.
