Photos of humpback whales, 10,000-year-old icebergs and a country clothesline (above) were projected on buildings throughout Toronto Wednesday night.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism project, which is running throughout the week, is designed to encourage city dwellers to venture east during the humid, smoggy months for vacations.

This is not the first time Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism has targeted Toronto. In 2008, it ran street-level activations, giving out cold water and free 15-minute cab rides. Also, a three-dimensional super board was erected overlooking Toronto’s busy Gardiner Expressway that had real curtains flapping in the wind, exposing a bright Newfoundland coastal scene.

Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism’s agency of record is the St. John’s-based Target.
