Flyboards looking for a little PR lift from Karyzma

Montreal company expanding to new beaches in Ontario

Montreal-based Flyboard Xtrem has named Karyzma Agency of Toronto as its agency of record in Canada.

The mandate includes media relations, influencer programs, partnerships, event management and consumer engagement activities.

Flyboard Xtrem distributes Flyboards for rentals at 15 beaches in Quebec, one location in Costa Rica and is expanding into the Ontario market. The company will also rent anywhere in Ontario and Quebec for groups of more than 25 people.

Launched last year, the company had 3,000 rentals last year and projects up to 10,000 rentals this year at a rate of $90 for a 15-minute ride. That would make it the biggest Flyboard rental firm in the world, according to Karyzma head Karine Delage.

Flyboard combines wakeboarding and kitesurfing. Riders stand on a board connected by a 60-foot long hose to a jet ski. Water under pressure is forced to boots with jet nozzles and provides thrust to riders who can reach heights of 10 to 45 feet.

Delage says Flyboard Xtrem received media exposure during last weekend’s Much Music Video Awards and during a recent media day near Montreal. Another media day event is planned in Toronto in July.
