While Future Shop has offered services for setting up new computers, and home theatre and car audio systems for some time now, the Burnaby, B.C.-based retailer is officially launching the service under the brand ConnectPro.

Anita Sehgal, director of customer experience at Future Shop, said the marketing push, which launches today, will include PR, vehicle wraps, in-store materials, branded uniforms and store flyers.

A survey commissioned by the retailer earlier this month and conducted by AskingCanadians.com, showed that 46% of Canadians consider technology to be an important component of home decor. This research also indicated that the biggest challenge they face when installing technology is time constraints at 43%, followed by lack of skills at 41%.

“We recognize [that] our consumer is technically savvy and tends to do research online…but as technology becomes much more integrated and complex, it’s important that we reach out to customers and make it easier for them,” said Sehgal.

Sehgal says Future Shop is handling most of the marketing for ConnectPro in-house with assistance by Cossette Communications, the retailer’s agency of record.
