MillerCoors has a new vice-president of brand marketing: Gannon Jones, formerly CMO of PepsiCo’s global nutrition group, has been tapped.

Jones, a Toronto native who graduated from Queen University’s School of Business, was overseeing product lines such as Tropicana and Quaker at PepsiCo, but also had extensive experience with other Pepsi snack brands under its Frito-Lay’s unit such as Sun Chips and Lays.

He will report to MillerCoors’ CMO Andy England, replacing Rick Gomez, who left the company in March.

Jones’ jump to beer brands comes at a time of great turmoil in the sector. Advertising Age reports that as the beer industry is experiencing volume sales declines across the board, MillerCoors itself has lost approximately 20% of its volume sales over the last five years.
