As part of an executive team shake up, Igor Halencak has been made head of merchandising and marketing at Lowe’s Canada.

Halencak arrives from Sears Canada where he was senior vice-president of “home, hardlines and major appliances.” Previously, Halencak had been a 14-year veteran of Loblaw Companies Ltd., departing as vice-president, conventional grocery.

S. Sonny Kekelj had been overseeing the hardware retailer’s merchandizing and marketing operations on an interim basis. He remains with the company.

The appointment is one of three announced by Lowe’s on Thursday. Nick Padovano, formerly at The Bay, was announced as the company’s first head of operations and supply chain. Tony Tutolo, formerly at Beer Store and Brewer’s Distributed Limited, was appointed head of finance and administration, another new position in the company.

“I am thrilled to add such a talented group of seasoned leaders to the Lowe’s Canada organization,” said Sylvain Prud’homme, who was made president of Lowe’s Canada in Feburary after nearly three years at Loblaw Companies Ltd.

“These newly appointed senior executives were hand-picked from some of the country’s top retailers,” said Prud’homme. “The diversity of their backgrounds will enhance our capacity to understand our customer’s expectations, continue to remain relevant and build stronger partnerships with our vendor community as we grow our business.”
