Chinese and Punjabi customers of the Insurance Corporation of BC can now access information on how to get their driver’s licences, how to insure their vehicles and how to get back on the road after a claim, in their own language at icbc.com.
Mark Jan Vrem, manager media relations and strategic communications for the crown corporation, said Chinese and Punjabi are the top two languages used in the crown corporation’s translation service.
“Demand drops off dramatically after those two languages,” Vrem said, though he could not specify what percentage of ICBC’s three million plus clients fall into these two ethnic speaking groups.
