Debit card service provider Interac continues to get mileage out of its three-year-old Interac Truck in its latest commercial.

Created by Agency 59, the “Pizza Night” spot debuted Friday during the pre-show loop at Cineplex and Tribute cinemas, with television scheduled to begin Jan. 3. The spot is intended to show how Interac can be used to make purchases even outside of in-store situations, said Nicky Cameron, vice-president of marketing and communications for the Interac Association.

The 30-second spot opens with a father attempting to pay for a pizza order with his debit card, only to discover that it is missing from his wallet. The ad then shows the Interac truck careening around the house in pursuit of the man’s young daughter, who is shown with the card.

As the daughter brings the card to her father, a voiceover says “Pizza night or any night, it’s the Canadian way to pay–Interac debit.” Agency 59 also created a French-language spot.

The Interac Truck debuted in November 2007. The company said its research indicates eight out of 10 Canadians like the ads either somewhat or a great deal. Interac also said that eight out of 10 respondents recall seeing an Interac Truck ad.
