Canadian race car driver James Hinchcliffe has signed with Torchia Communications.
It’s a move that continues a family tradition, says Daniel Torchia, managing director of Torchia Communications : Torchia’s father did PR for Formula One race car driver Gilles Villeneuve and his brother did PR for Villeneuve’s son, Jacques Villeneuve, who was also a Formula One driver.
Hinchcliffe, who is an IndyCar driver, was seriously injured in a crash last May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway but is returning to racing this month. He was previously represented by Stuart Morrison Public Relations.
Hinchcliffe is “everything you’d want in an ambassador for a brand and for his sport,” says Torchia. He’s accessible, personable (and) he’s basically become one of the major ambassadors of IndyCar. He’s a hot property even in the U.S.”
Hinchcliffe has several sponsorships including Honda Canada and clothing company Spyder.
Torchia also works with Green Savoree Racing Promotions, which owns and operates a number of car races, including the Honda Indy Toronto.
