Nestlé Canada Inc. is taking a break with Canadian singing star Kreesha Turner for a television commercial that promotes its new low calorie Kit Kat Senses chocolate bar.

The spot starts with Turner getting into the back of a cab. She opens her purse and a bright light shines out and her hit “Bounce With Me” starts to play, and she quickly closes her bag. With a smile on her face she once again peers inside and reaches for the chocolate bar.

“Introducing Kit Kat Senses, an indulgent new Kit Kat that’s full of surprises,” says the female voiceover. “Light tasting crisp wafers, dollops of decadent hazelnut cream and real milk chocolate… 170 calories never tasted so good.”

“So go on, have a break, have a new Kit Kat Senses,” she continues.

Research showed women 18-34 are the largest group of consumers eating chocolate every day, and the 23-year-old singer ties into that target, said Kit Kat brand manager Christine McClean.

“We love the actual fit with our target consumer and our brand. She’s young, she’s approachable, hip and poised for success, which we think our bar is also,” she said.

McClean said Nestlé would continue to align with Turner for the remainder of the year.

The commercial, created by JWT, airs until May 3.

Kit Kat Senses is also sponsoring Turner’s online video diary that follows the singer as she travels the country and prepares for the Juno awards March 29. Diary entries as well as the commercial can be viewed at CTV.ca/Kreesha, starting Monday.

CTV is promoting the site through its various properties including Much Music.
