A day after the Conservatives unveiled new attack ads slamming Stephane Dion, the Liberals fought back with a series of homemade videos on YouTube.
The videos slam Tory policies and accuse Prime Minister Stephen Harper of breaking his promises.
One, dubbed “The Price Is Right,” features theme music from the game show of the same name, and asks viewers “What is the price of a majority government?”
Jason Cherniak, who runs a website called Liblogs, says he and other Liberals may not have the money the Tories have, but are doing what they can to support Dion.
“The Liberal Party might not have enough money to spend on pre-election advertising, but that won’t stop Liberal bloggers from fighting back,” explained Cherniak
“We have been doing what we can to support Stephane Dion online and this Liblogs video page is only our most recent step.”
The Conservatives unveiled a new French-language ad Monday, warning Quebecers that Dion would deprive their province of federal equalization money.
But the Conservatives are also no strangers to YouTube.
Recently, they posted video online which attacked Liberal MP Mark Holland for failing to return boxes of documents to the Conservativesdocuments the Tories say were mistakenly left in the official Opposition leader’s office after the Conservatives came to power in 2006.
The Tories have also had party staff members tracking Dionboth in and outside of Ottawavideotaping his every move, though the Liberals recently turned the tables on the Conservatives. They posted a video of their own on YouTubecomplete with the Pink Panther theme musicfollowing the movements of James Murray, a Tory researcher, as he videotaped Dion.
