Marie-Josée Lamothe, formerly the top marketer at L’Oréal Canada, is now heading up Google’s business strategy development for partners and brands across a broad range of sectors in Canada.

As managing director of branding and Quebec at Google Canada, Lamothe will work with brands in the consumer products, government, energy, consumer health care, food and beverage and travel sectors, as well as oversee all business-related activities specific to the Quebec office.

Lamothe, who left her dual role as chief marketing officer and chief communications officer at L’Oréal at the end of February after nearly 12 years at the firm, told Marketing she is excited by the opportunity with Google to leverage its digital strengths to help brands compete.

“I think that building brands is no longer just about how you communicate but where you communicate. And I see Google as the enabler,” she said.

Her first day on the job is today.
