As Loblaw was getting hammered on social media on Tuesday for pulling French’s ketchup from its shelves (a decision the grocer later reversed), Walmart Canada jumped into the conversation to tell consumers not to worry – the brand was available at its stores.
As the hashtag #FrenchsKetchup was trending on Twitter in Toronto Tuesday afternoon, the retailer tweeted out, “Why mess with a good thing. We carry #FrenchsKetchup, friends,” along with a link to buy the product.

Later that night, it shared the link again, along with a photo of the product on a branded backdrop and the text, “No searching required. #FrenchsKetchup is available at Walmart.”
The retailer also pushed the product to the front page of its website.
Walmart wasn’t the only brand offering pushing its French’s stock. On Tuesday evening, Longos tweeted a similar message, writing: “You asked, we listened – get your Ontario-made #FrenchsKetchup at Longo’s. Enjoy!”
