Shoppers Drug Mart’s marketing team now falls under Loblaw’s leadership, the company confirmed.
Uwe Stueckmann, senior vice-president marketing at Loblaw, will assume responsibility for Shoppers Drug Mart as well as Loblaw’s marketing. He will report directly to Mike Motz, president of Shoppers Drug Mart.
As a result of the change, Shelagh Stoneham’s position was eliminated. She will leave the business in the next few weeks, a spokesperson told Marketing‘s sister publication, Canadian Grocer.
Stoneham (pictured) joined Shoppers Drug Mart as SVP, marketing in August 2014.
During her time in the role, Shoppers Drug Mart launched an online beauty boutique as well as the “Love You” program, in support of women’s health.
Shoppers also relaunched its Optimum loyalty program last June and continues to deepen its assortment of fresh food offerings with the help of its owner, Loblaw.
In January, Loblaw announced that the Joe Fresh Beauty collection would also be available in Shoppers Drug Mart.
This won’t be Stueckmann’s first foray into Shoppers Drug Mart’s marketing strategy. He held the position of VP, marketing with the retailer back in 2001.
