The Lymphoma Foundation Canada has changed its name, logo and look as part of a re-branding initiative.
The Mississauga-based organization is now called Lymphoma Canada (LC). Its rebrand was initiated to better communicate what the organization does by targetting current and former Lymphoma patients, medical professionals, and family and friends looking for more information on the disease.
Tanja Loeb, director of operations and programs at LC, said the old name suggested that LC was a foundation – which it is not. Its main goal is to empower and support lymphoma patients and the lymphoma community through education, support and research.
The new logo is a stylized version of a tree and is an extension LC’s previous logo (a leaf). The tree is meant to represent the branches of the human lymphatic system (part of the circulatory system) and a strongly rooted lymphoma community with upward pointing branches as an indicator of help and hope.
The redesigned website, which now includes a variety of patient profiles, blogs, videos and links to other related websites, is also a significant aspect of the re-brand, Loeb said.
“It really engages the Lymphoma community, and is accessible and friendly. Our emphasis is on community and that’s why we’ve included lots of pictures of patients with Lymphoma on the site.”
Lymphoma Canada worked with Toronto Agency Lowe Roche on the new logo, brand identity and name change. Peapod Studios re-designed the website as well as the mircosite for an LC program called “Know Your Nodes.” Peapod also re-designed that logo.
Loeb said marketing initiatives are coming in the next few months, and LC will be putting out a RFP for that work.
