Mark Childs, the longtime top marketer at Campbell Canada, is leaving the company to fill the CMO position at Samsung.
A representative confirmed to Marketing on Monday that the vice-president of marketing, who joined Campbell in 2004, is leaving the company at the end of the week.
There was no confirmation of his next destination, but Childs’ LinkedIn profile has been updated to say that he is the incoming chief marketing officer for Samsung Electronics Canada, with responsibility for brand marketing, marketing communications, retail experience, public relations and online and social media teams.
His LinkedIn profile also indicates that Childs will contribute to Samsung’s executive leadership team.
“I am genuinely excited to be joining the Samsung team to support the continued growth of the brand here in Canada and proud to have contributed to the Campbell team success and accomplishments,”
said Childs.
During his time at Campbell, the company won accolades and praise for its marketing. The brand ranked 12th on Leger and Marketing’s most recent corporate reputation survey of brands in Canada and was named a Marketer of the Year finalist by Marketing in 2011.
Samsung and previous vice-president of marketing Andrew Barrett quietly parted ways in January.
Childs has spent much of his career in the consumer packaged goods sector. Prior to joining Campbell in 2004, he spent 15 years with Kellogg Company, holding sales and marketing positions in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. He departed as VP marketing in 2002.
