MediaMiser is aiming to make it easier for small businesses to monitor online conversations about their brands.
The Ottawa-based company launched two social media monitoring tools – Snap and Team – for small and mid-sized enterprises (or SMEs, as they’re known). The tools aggregate real-time data from digital news sources, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and blogs within a single platform.
“Whether you’re an SME or a Fortune 500 company, to find the information you require or to make sure you’re not missing something, you have to know how to deal with big data,” said Brett Serjeantson, CEO of MediaMiser.
Many SMEs “are using a mishmash of tools to get the information they require,” said Serjeantson. In addition, they often lack the budget or know-how to use the same tools as larger companies, he added.
MediaMiser designed its new products to be both affordable and easy to use. Users are able to train the system to capture only the content and statistics they need, and the programs display a visual analysis for ease of understanding. One of the big problems with big data, Serjeantson added, is information overload. “People getting too much information is just as dangerous as not getting enough.”
