A recap of some recent comings and goings in Canadian marketing and communications.

Zulu Alpha Kilo has announced a pair of new “Zuligans.” NICK ASIK was hired as a senior writer after working at Wax in Calgary. NATALIE CALDERON from CP+B Canada was also brought on board as group account director for the recently won Coca-Cola account.

PHIL BARRETT stepped down as vice-president, digital and mobile at Toronto agency BStreet Communications to join Research in Motion as senior director, digital marketing. Barrett will oversee marketing for all of RIM’s “owned media” properties, including BlackBerry.com and RIM.com.

Dashing Collective Inc., the Toronto-based creative visual effects studio that opened its doors earlier this year, hired DANIELLE LYONS and DOUG LAW as executive producer and CG supervisor, respectively.

After six years, STEPHANE CHARIER is leaving Taxi Montreal to join Nolin BBDO as vice-president, creative director. Charier worked at BBDO as a creative director for five years prior to joining Taxi.

DOMINIQUE TRUDEAU, however, is moving to Taxi Monreal from BleuBlancRouge to fill Charier’s role.

Teletoon Canada hired SARAH ETHERDEN as communications manager to oversee initiatives for Teletoon and Teletoon Retro. Etherden spent the last two-and-a-half years with Metropolitan Hotels as corporate director, public relations.

Media City has added three new members to its team. STEPHEN COTE joins as senior sales executive, having previously worked at radio stations CHOMFM and Q92.5 in Montreal. PIERRE GRINSELL joins as sales executive, but continues to run Relations Media, which specializes in newspaper and magazine advertising. ROSANNA CECERE, previously a sales representative for Yellow Pages Group, joins as director, business development.

Ariad Custom Communications hired LANA CHEN as account director to work on the Telus account. Chen joins Ariad from Bell where she was responsible for the development of business rules and contact strategies.

BIMM Direct & Digital appointed ROSIE GENTILE as vice-president, client service, effective Dec. 13. Gentile joins BIMM from MacLaren MRM where she worked as executive lead and senior planner on the RBC account, and the executive lead of the agency’s response media team.

Ogilvy Montreal added SABRINA ZERKOUNE, ALEXANDRE MICHEL and CELINE CABROLIER to its digital team. Zerkoune joins as project manager from Sanofi-Aventis. Michel, who spent the last three years at Inpix, joins as integrator, and Cabrolier joins as account director after nearly four years with Revolver 3.

Veteran broadcaster PAT BOLLAND joined Veritas Communications as senior counsel in the agency’s business communications practice. Bolland was most recently at BNN, where he hosted Trading Day and Market Morning. Before becoming a broadcaster, he worked in the investment industry for several years, and was vice-president of institutional trading at ScotiaMcLeod.
