CBC TV general manager KIRSTINE STEWART has been named executive vice-president of CBC English Services. Stewart replaces Richard Stursberg, who left in August 2010.
Digital marketing veteran SEAN GANANN starts at Toronto agency Zulu Alpha Kilo as creative director Jan. 17. Ganann comes to Zulu from Campfire in New York where he helped develop Discovery Channel’s Frenzied Waters campaign (named by Mashable as one of the “10 impressive new implementations of Facebook Connect”). He also served stints at Anomaly, Saatchi & Saatchi Australia and NetX.
DraftFCB Toronto promoted PATRICK WEIR to vice-president, creative director. Weir joined the agency as associate creative director, when it merged with Marketing Drive Worldwide in 2007. Weir and his partner Mark Fitzgerald oversee the Molson Coors, Kraft and Levi’s accounts.
JEAN–PIERRE GIROUX is resigning as vice-president of Montreal-based Touché! PHD. He will join the board of SkySpa, a spa facility in Montreal. Replacing Giroux as vice-president of electronic media is SANDRA WELLS, who joins the agency from Corus Entertainment.
RACHEL LAI joins Toronto agency Doug & Serge as vice-president, consumer insights. Lai was recently on maternity leave. Prior to this she was at Publicis Canada as planning director. Other stints include Leo Burnett and BBDO Toronto.
PAUL DESJARDINS joins Zoom Media‘s Montreal office as regional sales director. Desjardins was most recently at RDS and previously held various media sales positions at Media Alternatives, DAN Media and Canwest.
Shaw Media named MIKE OMELUS eastern regional director for Global News. Omelus will oversee all editorial and production teams at Global Maritimes, Global Montreal, and Global Winnipeg’s newsrooms. He joins Global News from CTV‘s Business News Network, where he served as executive producer since 2006.
JENNIFER KAISER and AURAVELIA COLOMER joined Media Profile as account coordinators while three existing employees were promoted–JERI BROWN and DANE GERGOVICH were made senior consultants and SHERLINE JOE was made a consultant.
TBWA\Toronto announced a spate of new hires this week. JOHNATHAN SMITH, associate creative director, arrived from Sid Lee in Montreal; MICHELLE SPIVAK, senior writer, arrived from The Hive; DAN BACHE, art director, came on board from Taxi Vancouver; and designer KELLY FERGUSON arrived from McDonnell Haynes.
