HILTON BARBOUR joined Zulu Alpha Kilo as strategic planning director from Organic where he was recently executive director of strategy. This is a new position at Zulu. Barbour oversees all client strategy but is heavily involved with Coca-Cola.
Montreal-based communications firm Casacom opened an office in Toronto and hired CAROLYN RAY as managing director. Ray has worked for clients such as Ford, Walmart and Microsoft. She also teaches a public relations course at Toronto’s Ryerson University.
It also promoted VERONIQUE BOILEAU to vice-president. Boileau, who has been with the firm for one year, will now be involved with agency development projects.
CAROLINE MURPHY joined Mosaic as vice-president, PR and social media to oversee planning and direction for the overall consumer PR and social media practice, leadership on strategic communications planning, new business development and senior counsel to agency clients.
LAURA SERRA, social reporter for The Globe and Mail and The Grid, joined Toronto agency Narrative Advocacy Media as account supervisor, lifestyle brands. Serra has spent the last eight years with the Globe working in both advertising and editorial capacities. She is known for her work around local events and fundraisers.
Hill & Knowlton Canada, the WPP-owned public relations agency, promoted three of its own. KADI KALJUSTE will develop new business opportunities and partnerships from within the WPP network of companies, while continuing to counsel existing H&K clients. HILDA KINROSS and STEVEN MACKINNON joined the firm’s national senior management team as national marketing communications service leader and national leader of the newly-established financial communications and transactions practice, respectively.
JANET KESTIN and NANCY VONK are leaving Ogilvy & Mather Toronto to launch a professional development business called Swim. IAN MACKELLER, who was most recently senior VP, creative director at Bensimon Byrne, is replacing the duo.
Environics hired VANESSA COHEN as vice-president of its technology practice in Toronto to provide brand management, strategic communications planning and executive counsel to clients such as Xerox Canada, Yahoo! Canada, SAS Canada and SiriusXM Canada.
Marketing Talent appointed DEANNA MACDOUGAL as vice-president, recruitment to develop and manage the agency’s Toronto team. MacDougal has over 17 years of consumer marketing recruitment experience. She started her career at Mandrake and later co-founded MacDougal and Turner Executive Search.
WestWind Pictures hired ANTON LEO as vice-president of development. Leo was most recently at Just For Laughs where he was vice-president of TV. In his new position, Leo will develop new television shows and acquire new properties and formats.
Software company Kinaxis appointed KIRK MUNROE to the position of marketing vice-president. He previously worked in sales engagement strategy and enablement for business analytics at IBM.
