RBC appointed MARY DE PAOLI as EVP/CMO. A well-known face in the financial industry, De Paoli has been with Sun Life for more than 15 years, rising to EVP and CMO in 2012. At RBC, she will be responsible for global brand communications, including strategy and sponsorships such as the Olympics, as well as corporate communications. She will replace retiring chief brand and communications officer Jane Broderick.
Match Marketing Group named BRADFORD BRYEN as EVP of marketing to grow the agency’s profile as well as contributing strategy and insights to clients. Bryen’s experience in strategic marketing and brand communications comes most recently from Goerge P Johnson, where he was head of growth for three years, as well as activation agency G2 (now Geometry Global), which he founded, and Iris Worldwide, where he was CEO North America.
Jones Media added three members to its Toronto office. SARAH BOBAS took on the role of director of content and product science, where she will lead the product team. Her background as a communications strategist spans the agency world, with roles at Cundari and BBDO, as well as independent consulting. CLARISSE MUSSI joined as a senior account director, from a previous sales role at programmatic video platform Brightroll (now owned by Yahoo), which she helped launch in Canada. She’s also worked at Rogers, BV Media and AOL. SHELLEY WILSON joined as an account director, having previously worked with Mode Media, TC Media, Postmedia and Canwest.
Twist Marketing hired a new account services manager, SHEILA WITT, to help grow its portfolio of regional and national accounts. Witt brings experience in television production, radio, print and out-of-home, having most recently spent seven years with Pattison Outdoor as an account executive in Calgary.
North Strategic hired ALICE CHOE as director of digital and social media at its Toronto office, and PAULA WORTHINGTON as senior account director in Calgary. Choe comes from Target Canada, where she was digital platform strategy manager; she’s also worked as a marketing consultant for Rogers Publishing, and as an agency account director at Fuel Advertising, Isobar and Henderson Bas Kohn. Worthington joined from Brookline PR and has worked in communications for WestJet and Resorts of the Canadian Rockies.
Hill + Knowlton promoted CRAIG ROWSELL to VP and group leader of procurement and trade. Rowsell will lead the practice after having worked with H + K for almost four years. Before joining the agency he worked in the public sector, spending 14 years at the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency as director general of advocacy and industrial benefits.
