U.S.-based music and pop culture clothing retailer Hot Topic plans to open stores in Canada before the end of this year.

The company said it will have three locations operating in Ontario by October.

The first two stores will launch this Friday in Mississauga and Scarborough, while a third is slated to open in Burlington this fall.

Hot Topic is a popular chain with about 680 locations in the United States and Puerto Rico.

The stores carry an array of clothing and accessories that feature both current and past film and music icons, including Queen, The Who, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.
