Publicis takes artistic approach for Mira

Four illustrators show heart-to-heart connection between the blind and their dogs

Publicis has taken a different approach for this year’s annual fundraising campaign for the Mira Guide Dog Association – one idea, four very different illustrations.

The four illustrations were created by four international artists: James Jean, Davor Vrankić, Tara Mc Pherson and Kazuki Takamatsu. They appeared in Quebec dailies and throughout the Zoom Media OOH network. They all show a variation on one theme: ”Guide dogs are vital to the blind,” the campaign’s tagline.

”We worked with [Publicis worldwide creative director] Erik Vervroegen, who is my idol, at our Paris office,” says Nicolas Massey, creative director at Publicis Montreal. He picked four illustrators that he really liked, and then we submit ted the general idea: to link man and dog’s hearts.”

When asked if he thinks such a variety of styles could harm the message’s consistency, Massey replies that, to the contrary, ”every drawing has its own sensitivity and creativity, and all of them are touching and conveying the same idea of a vital bonding.”
