Quebec City’s mayor has canned the man he hired to give his historic town an image makeover.
Mayor Regis Labeaume terminated the city’s $300,000 contract with self-proclaimed marketing guru Clotaire Rapaille after inaccuracies surrounding his credentials surfaced in a media report.
An investigation by Quebec City daily Le Soleil found errors in the resume of the French-born, New York-based Rapaille.
The report says Rapaille admitted that contrary to what’s listed in his resume, he has never been hired to give image makeovers to other cities or the French government.
Labeaume said he can no longer work with Rapaille because of the breach of confidence.
The mayor’s decision to hire the eccentric Rapaille to modernize the city’s image has been highly controversial.
Rapaille has already been paid about $130,000 of the money promised in his contract.
