RBC will hit the links with some of professional golf’s biggest names this year, adding Jim Furyk, Ernie Els and Matt Kuchar to its list of sponsored “brand ambassadors.”
The three golfers topped the PGA’s money list in 2010, and have enough tournament trophies between them to fill a clubhouse. As they tour across North America and Europe in 2011, their golf bags will be emblazoned with the RBC logo.
The trio will also appear in brand advertising across international markets, including Canada and the U.S.
RBC is already heavily invested in golf as the title sponsor of the largest professional golf tourney in Canada—the RBC Canadian Open—and is the official bank of the PGA of America. It also sponsors players Anthony Kim, Fred Couples, Luke Donald, Stephen Ames, Mike Weir and Morgan Pressel.
“Golf is one of the key drivers of RBC’s brand momentum,” said Jim Little, the banks chief brand and communications officer.
“These players are well-respected and have global recognition. They will be great ambassadors for RBC and the charitable causes we support. By leveraging our golf sponsorship and the ambassador program, we are able to reinforce our brand relevance in Canada and increase our brand presence around the world.”
