The union representing almost 9,000 registered nurses in Saskatchewan is ramping up an ad campaign ahead of contract talks.
The Saskatchewan Union of Nurses has released a multimedia campaign it said will highlight how registered nurses make a difference.
Union president Rosalee Longmoore said nurses improve patient outcomes, reduced mortality and improve treatment.
The union said Saskatchewan could soon lose 2,000 registered nurses due to retirements.
The union and regional health authorities have been meeting to hammer out a list of what jobs would be considered essential services.
Under provincial legislation, that has to begin 90 days before the current contract expires and before new talks start.
