Sponsors didn’t just make their brands visible at this year’s Luminato festival–they got involved in the cultural and arts activities going on at the Toronto event.

Sponsors like Redken, L’Oréal Paris and Fashion Magazine hosted branded events that showcased their products and entertained visitors. Whether they were receiving a free makeover, attending a fashion show or an in-store autograph signing, Luminato visitors got to experience brands and art simultaneously.

The second annual festival came to a close yesterday. Here’s a roundup of some of the weekend’s events:

•Garnier’s “Immerse Yourself in Beauty” at Harbourfront offered tips on taking care of hair and skin.
•Biotherm’s “Energize Your Skin”  provided lessons about the latest skin energizing trends and invited people to take part in the Streetscape exhibit at the Luminato Link dock.
•Vichy’s “Health is vital, start with your skin” educated on skin health; the company also held an instrument workshop at Vichy’s Skin Health Centre.
•CTV and The Globe and Mail presented the Canadian premiere of Black Watch by the National Theatre of Scotland at Varsity Arena.
•Lancôme Paris showcased “Toronto’s Mille Femmes,” 1,000 portraits of some of Toronto’s most artistic women (photographed by French artist Pierre Maraval) at the Allen Lambert Gallery.
•Scotiabank Group presented “Spotlight on new South Asian Writing”–an evening of readings and discussion with emerging South Asian literary voices–at the Al Green Theatre.
