TD Insurance has launched the latest installment of a television ad campaign from DraftFCB that casts an insurance expert as the everyday hero.

The 30-second spot shows a large brown bear rummaging through a campsite, while a couple sits in a tree and frantically tries to make sense of their insurance policy.

A TD insurance expert appears and explains how he can make insurance easy by offering the right coverage when they need it most. He also scares off the bear.

Serge Lapointe, vice-president, marketing for TD Insurance, said the easy-to-understand message tested well with consumers before it went to air on Monday, and has already received positive feedback.

The end of the spot drives viewers to Simple.TDInsurance.com. The URL is “about letting people know that we’re ready to engage with them,” he said.

The company first started promoting its products on TV nearly two years ago to broaden its reach and support the relaunch of its entire product line (home, auto, credit protection, life and health insurance) under the TD Insurance umbrella. Advertising efforts previous to this consisted mainly of direct marketing and in-branch collateral.

The TV spots are running in English and French until the end of June.

Starcom handled the media buy.
