Almost eight years to the day since B.C. Gas switched its name to Terasen, the natural gas provider is changing names yet again.
As of March 1, Terasen Gas will become FortisBC as it moves to a shared brand name with the Newfoundland-based company that acquired it in 2007.
Fortis president John Walker said the switch will unite the two companies with a common identity and philosophy.
He says the core businesses of electricity and natural gas are still vital but the single name will provide focus as Fortis develops alternative energies ranging from district energy systems to natural gas for vehicles and biomethane.
FortisBC currently supplies electricity to more than 112,000 customers in the Okanagan and Boundary regions.
Terasen serves about 940,000 natural gas customers in more than 125 communities around the province.
