Terry Gilliam will direct the live webcast of Arcade Fire’s concert at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, part of the new “Unstaged” concert series from America Express.

The Arcade Fire show will be streamed on YouTube, Aug. 5 at 10 p.m. ET, the second of two shows at MSG, part of the tour for the bands new album “The Suburbs.”

Gilliam, whose films include Brazil and 12 Monkeys, last released The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus in December.

The concert will stream on the Google Inc.-owned YouTube via Vevo, the music video site owned by Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Abu Dhabi Media Co.

It’s the first in a planned series of five live streamed concerts, with John Legend and the Roots to follow. Others will be announced later.

American Express is also running a “Share Your Suburbs” photo contest, giving fans a chance to upload pictures of their suburbs–”front porches, backyards, roads, bikes, empty lots”–which the band may choose to show onstage during the Aug. 5 show.
