Virgin Mobile Canada partners with Banana Republic

New partner is one in a string that furthers Virgin's lifestyle branding

Banana Republic is the latest brand to partner with Virgin Mobile Canada on the mobile carrier’s member benefits program.

As part of the promotion, Virgin Mobile customers will receive a 20% discount off one Banana Republic item each visit through the end of 2014.

The promotion is one of a suite of benefits and promotions the brand offers customers, ranging from fashion to travel, music and entertainment.

By partnering with entertainment and fashion companies, Virgin Mobile is able to maintain the lifestyle image associated with the overall Virgin brand, according to Joseph Ottorino, managing director of Virgin Mobile Canada. “With Virgin Mobile, it isn’t just about hooking up the hottest smartphone on a ridiculously fast network. It’s about creating valuable experiences for our members,” he said.

“The members benefits program does this by offering promotions on brands our members know and love and irresistible experiences money can’t buy,” he said. “That helps bring the Virgin Mobile brand to life.”

Prior to this Canadian promotion, Banana Republic and Virgin Airways ran a similar offer in the U.S. In the past, Virgin Mobile Canada also partnered with Rimmel and Holt Renfrew to offer discounts and product giveaways and gave away a trip to New York to meet David Beckham as part of an H&M contest.

The brand also currently offers customers a 20% discount at H&M and a 3-month free subscription to Elle Canada magazine.

In the coming months, Ottorino said Virgin Mobile Canada will roll out additional deals and shopping events in partnership with Banana Republic.
