Walmart Canada has named Xavier Piesvaux as its new senior vice-president for Quebec and the Maritimes.
In the role, Piesvaux will be in charge of operations of 113 stores. Quebec has 68 of those stores including 39 supercentres.
Most recently, Piesvaux held the role of president and CEO at Mega Image – a Romanian general store chain. He managed 450 stores and more than 7,500 employees during his nine years in the role. Under Piesvaux’s leadership, Mega Image opened over 100 new stores in the past year.
Piesvaux succeeds Chantal Glenisson, who left the position last year to join Réno-Dépôt as vice-president and CEO. Glenisson is a veteran of the grocery industry, having worked with Provigo and Loblaw prior to joining Walmart.
