The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) has cast funnyman Eugene Levy in an ad that promotes the charitable organization as a “major economic contributor.”

The 60-second television and cinema spot from Toronto agency Doug & Serge shows Levy and a canine sidekick in a fictitious film. As the credits roll and the theatre audiences starts to leave, Levy encourages theatergoers to pay attention and explains how CFC provides work opportunities for those in the film industry.

The spot is meant to help dispel the myth that the CFC is only a film school. It’s much more than that, said Slawko Klymkiw, chief executive officer at CFC, in a release.

“Our commitment to nurturing talent and career development, has resulted in more than 92% of our residents working in their respective fields,” said Klymkiw. “Some of the most successful names in Canadian entertainment actively support us and Eugene Levy is one of them.”
