Death loves Tom, Dick and Harry. It also loves the ladies. Nearly 70,000 Canadians die each year from heart disease and stroke, which is why the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada is encouraging Canadians to take action.

The volunteer-based health charity’s new marketing campaign challenges Canadians to, collectively, make one million healthy actions by the end of February 2012.

The campaign from Lowe Roche includes public service announcements that drive viewers to HeartAndStoke.ca where they can download a Facebook application to find out who in their network is at risk, search through heart healthy recipes and sign up for their own action page.

The personal page allows users to read stories from people who have been affected by heart disease and stroke, and learn how to be more physically active. So far, over 2,100 people have joined the cause and over 1,500 healthy actions have been taken.
