With the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) just around the corner, everyone seems to be jumping on the movie bandwagon. Even Toronto’s Pearson Airport has joined in. On Aug. 26, over 1,000 boxes of popcorn poured down a baggage carousel to greet passengers arriving in Terminal 1.

“For 36 years, the Toronto International Film Festival has delighted Torontonians and film enthusiasts from around the world, and Toronto Pearson is overjoyed to be a part of the festivities once again this year,” said Jennifer Larson, Manager, Guest Experience Marketing in a release.

Black Chalk Marketing developed the idea.

The popcorn release is just the first in a series of events being deployed around Pearson. The popcorn giveaways will continue, and from Sept 3-18, departing international flyers will have a chance to have their photo superimposed on their choice of three movie poster.

“We wanted to come up with something that our guests would find fun and that would tie back to the film festival,” said Patricia Krale, media advisor for GTAA Airports. “Popcorn seemed like a natural choice. Also, we wanted to give a little treat to our guests and everyone loves popcorn!”
