Five Canadian agencies scored spots on the shortlist in the Radio competition at the Cannes International Festival of Creativity on Sunday.

Cossette Toronto, J. Walter Thompson Canada and LG2 led the pack with two nominations each.

Cossette earned two nods for its work for Kobo with the radio ads “The Birds” and “The River.”

J. Walter Thompson’s Toronto office was shortlisted for two radio ads crafted for The Toronto Speakers Academy, “Femme-a-Palooza” and “Give him everything.”

LG2’s two nominations, meanwhile, were both for Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec, called “Movie” and “Gift.” The spots were part of the “Road Safety” campaign that was also shortlisted twice in the Print & Publishing category.

BBDO Toronto was shortlisted for its Snickers spot “Hungry reporter” while Tank Montreal was shortlisted for its Valda spot, “Daycare.”

The Radio jury is led by a Canadian, Pirate Group’s Tom Eymundson. Entries to the category were down year-over-over, from 1,720 in 2015 to 1,410 this year.

The Radio Lions will be awarded during a gala ceremony on Monday night.
