Rexall launches ‘Shot for Shot’ program for kids in need

Program will help vaccinate children in northern Uganda

Rexall has partnered with Amref Health Africa to launch “Shot for Shot,” a campaign that provides life-saving vaccines to children desperately in need. For every flu shot administered by a Rexall pharmacist, the company will make a donation towards delivering vaccines to northern Uganda, where vaccination rates are well below World Health Organization targets.

“Our priority has always been the health and well being of Canadians, and flu shot season is a very important this time of year,” said Derek Tupling, director of communications at Rexall. “But when we looked at the success of our flu shot program, we wanted to leverage that success in helping the health and well being of other people and children that go beyond our borders.”

“Our goal is to encourage people to get the flu shot, which is what we do every year, but this year there’s the added benefit that people who roll up their sleeves are going to be helping children in a part of the world that desperately need it,” he added. “And that’s just a good thing.”

The “Shot for Shot” program is being promoted with public relations, social media, radio spots, in-store promotions and a YouTube video. The creative was developed by Public Inc., an agency that focuses on social causes.
